Schwarbers Three Homers Power Phillies Past Blue Jays

Schwarber's Three Homers Power Phillies Past Blue Jays

A Second Three-Homer Game for the Phillies Slugger

On Wednesday, Kyle Schwarber became the first Phillies player to hit three home runs in a game twice in a single season, leading Philadelphia to a 9-5 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Schwarber's first home run came in the first inning off Blue Jays starter Ross Stripling, a solo shot to left field. He added a two-run homer in the third inning, and completed his hat trick with another solo homer in the fifth.

Schwarber's Impressive Season Continues

Schwarber's three-homer game is his second of the season, joining the exclusive list of Phillies players with multiple three-homer games in a single year.

The 29-year-old outfielder is having a standout season for the Phillies, batting .268 with 38 home runs and 93 RBIs in 128 games.

  • His 38 home runs rank first in the National League and fifth in the MLB.
  • Schwarber's 93 RBIs are second in the NL and eighth in the MLB.

Phillies' Comeback Victory

Schwarber's offensive outburst helped the Phillies overcome an early 5-0 deficit, marking their fourth straight win.

Trailing 5-0 in the third inning, the Phillies rallied with a three-run homer by Schwarber and a two-run double by Nick Castellanos.

Despite allowing five runs in the first three innings, Phillies starter Taijuan Walker settled down and pitched into the sixth inning, allowing the bullpen to close out the game.

Impact on the NL East Race

The Phillies' win keeps them firmly in the NL East race, as they remain just 2.5 games behind the first-place New York Mets.

With Schwarber continuing to provide power in the middle of the lineup, the Phillies are positioned well to make a push for the playoffs in the second half of the season.
