Ray Reardon, Six-Time World Snooker Champion, Passes Away at 91

Welsh Icon Left a Lasting Legacy

World Snooker Icon Remembered

The world of snooker has lost a legend with the passing of Ray Reardon MBE at the age of 91. Known as "Dracula" for his signature widows peak hairstyle, the Welshman dominated the sport in the 1970s, winning six world titles between 1970 and 1978.

Reardon turned professional in 1967 and quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with. His aggressive style of play and tactical acumen made him a formidable opponent, and he quickly rose to the top of the rankings.

Reardon's first world title came in 1970, and he would go on to win five more titles in the next eight years. He became known for his ability to produce his best snooker under pressure, and he was often hailed as the "King of the Crucible," the venue for the World Snooker Championship.

After retiring from professional snooker in 1983, Reardon continued to be involved in the sport as a commentator and mentor. He was inducted into the Snooker Hall of Fame in 1994, and in 2004 he was awarded an MBE for his contributions to the sport.

Ray Reardon's legacy as one of the greatest snooker players of all time is secure. His aggressive style of play and tactical brilliance inspired a generation of players, and his name will forever be synonymous with the golden age of snooker.
