Christie Sides Named Assistant Coach for Indiana Fever
Sides Returns to WNBA
Indianapolis, IN (March 8, 2023)
The Indiana Fever have announced the hiring of Christie Sides as an assistant coach. Sides joins the Fever after spending the past five seasons at Northwestern University, where she served as the associate head coach.
Sides has a wealth of experience in both the collegiate and professional ranks. She has served as an assistant coach at LSU, Northwestern, and the WNBA's Indiana Fever. She also has head coaching experience at the collegiate level, having led the University of Illinois from 2008 to 2012.
Sides is a two-time WNBA champion, having won titles with the Detroit Shock in 2006 and 2008. She also has extensive international experience, having coached the United States U19 team to a gold medal at the 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship.
"We are excited to welcome Christie to our coaching staff," said Fever head coach Marianne Stanley. "She is a proven winner and has a wealth of experience at all levels of basketball."
Sides will join a Fever team that is looking to rebound from a disappointing 2022 season. The Fever finished with a 12-22 record, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
