Montour Goal Forces Overtime, Bruins Take Game 7
Panthers Pepper Bruins With Shots, But Boston Advances
The Boston Bruins escaped blowing a 3-1 series lead in the first round of the NHL playoffs, holding on to edge the Florida Panthers 4-3 in Game 7 on Saturday night.
Brandon Montour tied it with 1 minute left in regulation for the Panthers, who outshot the Bruins 46-24. But David Pastrnak scored 6:15 into overtime to give Boston the victory.
The Bruins, who posted the best regular-season record in NHL history, will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round. The Panthers will head into the offseason after a disappointing end to a season in which they led the league in scoring.
The Bruins will need to get the ice bags ready against a Hurricanes team that peppers the net with shots. Carolina led the NHL with 361 goals during the regular season, while the Panthers were second with 340.
