Titans star Fifita to undergo surgery
Back rower to miss round 15 clash with Wests Tigers
Injury blow for Queensland Origin hopeful
Titans forward David Fifita will miss the club's round 15 clash against the Wests Tigers after injuring his pectoral muscle.
The club announced on Tuesday evening that Fifita would go under the knife after suffering a partial tear during a pre-season training session.
The backrower sustained the injury on Monday, with a scan on Tuesday confirming the severity of the problem.
It's an untimely setback for Fifita, who underwent surgery earlier in his career at the Broncos.
The 23-year-old was set to make his return to the State of Origin arena after being named in the Queensland side for game one.
However, he will now be forced to watch on from the sidelines as the Maroons take on the Blues in Sydney on June 8.
The Titans are yet to confirm how long Fifita will be sidelined for, but it is expected to be several weeks.
His absence will be a blow to the Titans, who have struggled for consistency in recent weeks.
They currently sit 12th on the NRL ladder, with a record of six wins and eight losses.
