Three Reigning Conference Champions Highlight Inaugural Schedule
Birmingham, AL - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Blazers football team released its 2024 schedule on Wednesday, which features matchups against three reigning conference champions.
The Blazers, who will compete in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) for the first time in 2024, will open their season on the road against the reigning Sun Belt Conference champion Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on August 31.
UAB will then host the reigning Conference USA champion UTSA Roadrunners on September 7 in its home opener at Protective Stadium. The Blazers will face another reigning conference champion, the reigning MAC champion Toledo Rockets, on October 26.
Other highlights of the schedule include road games against the ACC's Pittsburgh Panthers (September 14) and the SEC's Mississippi State Bulldogs (September 21). The Blazers will also host AAC opponents Memphis (October 12), Navy (October 19), Temple (November 2), and Tulane (November 16).
The Blazers finished the 2023 season with a 4-8 record, which was their first losing season since returning to play in 2017. UAB is hoping to improve on that record in 2024 under new head coach Trent Dilfer.
